Today's inspiration and lessons come from an iconic Parisian building, the gorgeous Lafayette Galeries behind the Opera in Paris.
You could be wondering whether I have gone too far but there is method in my approach.
This building illustrates two messages we should be mindful of
1. That historical buildings can. Be successfully retrofitted to meet the needs to of today without giving up on the esthetics Therefore, if you live in a Listed Building, or a historical one, you should find a way to bring the old and the new together. (It can unlock really beautiful solutions)
2. That sometimes the best view comes from the least pretty place:the roof
If your home has a roof or a terrace, think about the amenity it can provide and explore whether you are allowed to use it
