This is a typical question people ask their designers on appointment, expecting them jump in and start work straight away on their project while keeping the design open for them to make last minute decisions while finding a contractor that can cost the project accurately (with little to no information) and start on site immediately.
As any #arkhlient would know, just because you want to build now, it does not mean you can. Whatever tv says
Unfortunately, if your project requires designing, planning approval, building regulations sign off or freeholder review ... and if you plan to employ a contractor rather than do the refurbishment yourself, things take longer than you would like them to.
And as tempting as it may be to ignore the rules, to save time, it could cost you.
For example, if planners see you have proceeded without permission, they could choose to condemn the unlawful work. (i have seen it happen)
The message is clear: the process takes longer than you would like to, make sure you build this time in (and some contingency) when making guesstimations.
