Planning a bedroom, I find, is often forgotten in the clients' design process. While rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms tend to take the entire focus, bedrooms are left as "blank canvases". As such, the risk can be that once the project is completed, you find that there are not enough switches or sockets in the room, the curtains are not blocking the sun or the lighting is not practical.
Here are some ideas:
1. Think about the light fittings in clusters: pendant/wall lights, bedside cabinets and atmospheric concealed lighting
2. think about textures: the bedhead, the bed linen, the armchairs, cushions and curtains can complement and contrast. You can think about colour, texture and patterns as ways to create connections
3. furniture: make sure the furniture supports your needs. If you like reading, you may want an armchair, if you have mobility problems, an ottoman at the end of the bed can double as storage for your spare duvets and blankets and a seat to put your socks on, for example.
I could continue with many more examples... do let me know if it is of value.
