I am not referring to listed buildings where you must get a Listed Building Consent in advance and it is unlawful to do works without it. (in the UK, at least)

I am referring to old but more standard buildings where one would still find fireplaces, cornices, high skirtings, elaborated architraves and many other features that set the property apart.
